Peat is called as a black gold of Finland, which is herbal mass and about 3,000 to 5,000 years old. It has more than 200 active ingredients. Peat of Lehtosuo is clean, odorless, antiseptic and antibacterial natural product. The quality of the peat is carefully examined in the Finnish Geological Research Center’s laboratory before it is used as treatment peat. There are 33 different elements in peat.

The effect of treatment is based on peat excavated from a depth of 2–4 meters, in which various bioactive substances have formed over the thousands of years. The therapeutic bioactive ingredients are fulvic and humic acids. They can penetrate the skin even to the cellular level and affect the surface deeper, transporting herbal medicine and trace elements. It contains the same human trace elements as copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc and silicon. The humins of peat have ability to bind rheumatism factors, i.e. toxins.
The therapeutic peat is heated to 40 degrees (C), which accelerates the blood circulation and activates the metabolism. Humins bind rheumatism factors. Movement, heat and bioactive substances support hormone function and help the cells to regenerate and strengthen. In an acute inflammatory state, the treatment is done with cold peat.
Peat treatment is not recommended:
- Allergic to natural resin
- A peat sauna is not recommended if you have heart disease, hypertension or a pacemaker, but small local peat treatments can be done
- For open wounds and inflamed skin
- For cancer patients, but those who have recovered from the disease can enjoy the peat treatments.
